CLITHEROE couple Chris Barrow and Cheryl Morris put their best feet forward and raised £800 for a worthy cause from running the London Marathon.
The couple, proprietors of the outdoor clothing shop, Onward and Outward, ran the marathon on behalf of the Friends of War Memorials.
The ex-serviceman and former policewoman completed the mammoth race in four hours, 20 minutes.
Chris, 31, a former physical training instructor in the Royal Navy, said: "It was our first marathon and a fantastic experience. The crowds along the way were helpful and friendly, and the atmosphere was superb."
The couple, who get married in July, trained for six months for the top event, which attracted 32,000 entrants and 500,000 spectators.
Chris added: "We chose the Friends of War Memorials because I am an ex-serviceman and Cheryl is a former Lancashire policewoman. We felt it was a worthy cause that like many small charities often gets overlooked in favour of the bigger charities."
The couple are now nursing the odd blister, as well as showing off their special marathon T-shirts and medals to customers in their King Street shop.
