A PARAMEDIC told a court how she found the body of an East Lancashire businessman who was killed with an axe.
Paramedic Angela Armitage told the court how she was called to Woodside Hall in Yorkshire and found former escort girl Jan Charlton outside Danny O'Brien's home
Mr O'Brien lived in Holme Terrace, Townsendfold, Rawtenstall, until three years ago.
Mrs Armitage told the jury she went upstairs with a colleague but it was obvious there was nothing she could do for the businessman. She told the court Charlton sat in the ambulance with her and was very upset.
"She said the little girl had gone upstairs and come back to her and said, 'Mummy, what's all that red in the bedroom?'"
Mr O'Brien, 40, was found in the bloodstained master bedroom of the house he shared with Charlton at Woodside Hall, The Old Woodyard, Midgley.
He had a large axe embedded in his head and was wearing a gag, blindfold and handcuffs. Charlton has admitted killing Mr O'Brien but denies murdering him, claiming he provoked her and also that she was acting in self-defence after he threatened both her and her daughter.
Leeds Crown Court had earlier heard how Charlton had told a friend that she and Mr O'Brien were interested in sex toys, mentioned wife swapping and how Mr O'Brien liked watching her have sex with other men.
He is also alleged to have kept a 'sex kit' of toys and uniforms.
