BUDDING soccer star Jason Jarrett is to be tried over an alleged drink-drive charge.
The 22-year-old, who transferred from Bury to local rivals Wigan Athletic for £75,000 just weeks ago, was charged after an incident in November last year at Hunstanton Drive, Bury.
At Bury Magistrates Court Jarrett pleaded not guilty to driving after drinking alcohol above the legal limit. The court heard that he gave a reading of 167 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is just 80.
Midfield player Jarrett, of Parkhills Road, Bury, faces a further charge of driving without due care on the same date. No plea was entered on that charge.
The case was adjourned until May 14 when a pre-trial review is due to take place. Jarrett was granted bail.
