TODMORDEN pro Jerry Cassell was advised not to play the opening game of the season at home to RAWTENSTALL because of a fractured bone in his hand, so Barnoldswick pro Clinton Peake stepped up and more than filled his shoes.
Peake took four wickets as Rawtenstall racked up 180-9 and then stepped up to score 114 with the bat.
Steve Oddy also had success with the ball, taking four wickets in his side's win.
Rawtenstall's South African pro Andrew Hall opened his campaign with 49 runs and three wickets for 41 runs.
CHURCH took the majority of the points in the reduced-overs clash at NELSON.
Nelson reached 98 but couldn't keep Church's innings low despite wickets from the pro Joe Scuderi (two), Martin Heap (two) and Danny Kegg (four).
RAMSBOTTOM followed up their disappointing Colne Trophy display with defeat at RISHTON.
Peter Sleep and pro Paul Adams were the heroes, Sleep scoring 63 and taking two wickets and Adams taking four wickets, although only scoring three with the bat.
