ACCRINGTON warmed-up for their Marsden Lancashire FA Cup final with what boss John Coleman described as a 'disappointing draw' against Runcorn.
The Reds take on Barrow at Morecambe FC on Wednesday night looking for their first silverware of the season.
And Coleman felt his side should have won Saturday's clash in the build-up to the final after taking an 83rd minute lead through sub Lee Buggie's close range effort.
But they let top five UniBond Premier League rivals Runcorn straight back into it when ex-Red Steve Carragher fired home two minutes later.
"Once we had taken the lead, I felt we should have gone on to win it," said the Reds chief who was relieved to see his side score their first goal in four games and end a run of three losses on the trot.
"But it was a terrible game, the pitch wasn't at its best and it was always going to be a defenders' game so once we went in front I felt that was it.
"But we gave away a disappointing, scrappy goal straight away. We should have defended the corner better."
Buggie was one of the bright lights in the game as he scored his first goal for Stanley.
The former Bury striker has been on the bench for the last few months as he looks to breakthrough into the Reds first team.
He is at the Crown Ground until the end of the season although Coleman is still deciding whether he will be there next season.
"I don't think we have seen enough of him yet but when he has come on he has certainly looked lively," said the Reds boss. "He scored a great goal and every time he comes on he shows us something different. He has a spark."
His former Bury team-mate Steve Halford, who has been a lynch-pin in the Stanley backline for the last few months, didn't make it and is a doubt for Wednesday with a hamstring strain.
And striker Paul Mullin also sat out the game with a back injury with Lutel James and Gary Williams - who has returned from his loan spell at First Division Rossendale - starting up front.
"Gary did okay although he is still feeling his hamstring a bit but I am hoping Paul will make it for Wednesday."
Danny Thorpe started in goal in place of Jamie Speare who is suspended for the Barrow clash. "Danny did well," added Coleman.
