A PUBLIC-SPIRITED motorist followed a drunken driver home because he was worried about how erratically the car was being driven, a court heard.
David Thomas phoned police and told them how badly motor mechanic Roy Edwards was driving.
Police finally confronted Edwards in his home where he admitted drinking and driving and then drinking again when he reached home.
Edwards, aged 46, of Ambrose Road, Leigh, appeared at Bolton Crown Court for sentence.
He had earlier admitted dangerous driving, driving with excess alcohol and driving without insurance.
Judge Bruce Macmillan sentenced Edwards to a 200-hour Community Punishment Order, banned him for 12 months and ordered he pay £500 court costs.
