A BURGLAR was so intent on searching the property from top to bottom he fell through the loft ceiling.
Burnley Crown Court heard James Devers, 20, was so drunk he started fisticuffs with the police and then gave a bizarre and "wholly improbable" explanation, blaming somebody else for the raid.
Devers, who struck not long after being released from an 18-month term of custody for burglary, was sent to detention for two years.
He must first serve the 35-day unexpired portion of his previous sentence.
Judge Barbara Watson said he had at least shown remorse for his behaviour.
Devers, of no fixed address, had admitted burglary and been committed for sentence by Burnley magistrates.
Kathryn Johnson, defending, said Devers accepted he would be going to custody. He had pleaded guilty at a very early stage and had shown his remorse for the offence.
