THE body of a man found collapsed in a toilet cubicle in Darwen on Saturday has been identified.
Simon Hitchin, 29, was found just before 2pm at social service-run temporary accommodation known as the Model Lodge in Police Street, and is believed to have died after taking alcohol and prescribed drugs.
Paramedics tried unsuccessfully to revive him at the scene.
Graham Ashcroft, a Darwen Inspector, said: "Witnesses at the scene reported that alcohol and drugs had been taken before his death.
"The body was found in a communal toilet and is a terrible example of a tragic death.
"It appears as though an overdose is responsible for this death but it is now a matter for the coroner."
Police are working to identify Simon's next-of-kin and where he came from.
