A TEAM from Blackburn fire station will scale 8,000ft in a sponsored challenge.
Eight members of red watch will tackle Ben Nevis, Scotland, Scafell Pike, Cumbria, and Snowdon, Wales, to raise money for Diabetes UK.
They came up with the idea after colleague Simon Rackley, 29, of Ramsgreave Road, Blackburn, was diagnosed with the condition.
At first Simon feared he would lose his job after three years in the service. He said: "It is just a case of being sensible and disciplined. I have to check my blood and keep chocolate to hand -- and away from the others!"
To sponsor, contact the station in Byrom Street on 01254 52111.
