NINETY-FIVE young people completed the Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme in Blackburn with Darwen last year despite problems arising from foot and mouth disease.
The epidemic initially hit the numbers taking part with many activities being in the countryside, but Blackburn with Darwen finished with some of the largest numbers of participants compared to other local areas.
During an award ceremony at Darwen Moorland High School, five people were awarded the gold award, 30 silver and 60 bronze.
