AS A woman I drive my partner round the twist trying to see the good in people and believing in the system.
My beliefs have recently been shattered.
My daughter and some friends were coming out of Sainsbury's car park last Friday evening at approximately 7pm and were attacked by a gang of 15 youths.
Fortunately, two off-duty policemen were passing and stopped to help.
Four of the girls had to be taken to casualty by ambulance.
On arrival at the hospital the PC was only interested in interviewing a girl who had a bloody nose.
I asked him if he wanted to interview the other girls and he said "No." I asked should we make a report at the police station and again he said "No."
On Saturday I rang Lancaster Police station to be told that the PC in charge was off duty until Wednesday.
When Wednesday came a very pleasant PC explained that the other PC must have got the wrong end of the stick and did not realise the injuries to my daughter.
He asked that my daughter provide him with names and addresses of the attackers otherwise there was very little he could do.
After getting quite angry I was advised to come into the police station with my daughter and told that someone would take a statement and try to look into it.
My daughter has lumps and bruising on her head, mild concussion, whip lash on her neck and is obviously very shaken, but there is not much the police can do!
Is it acceptable for this to happen these days? I am disgusted with the police's handling of this incident.
I thought it was their job to get the correct facts!
By the way, if you are attacked, get their names and addresses and the police might try to do something.
