A BURST water main which flooded roads and gardens in the Ribbleton area of Preston on Monday, April, 22, has been repaired.
Up to 7,000 homes were without water after the 26ins water main burst, causing severe flooding in the Thelmere Road and New Hall Lane at 10am. The incident caused traffic tailbacks throughout the day.
More than 36 engineers worked to reconnect homes before everyone woke up on Tuesday morning, but they could only restore limited amounts.
United Utilities said that the main was repaired at 8pm on Tuesday, although half of the affected area did not receive water again until 11.30pm. Remaining homes had their water supply put back on in the early hours of yesterday morning (Wednesday).
