SUCCESS in a trampolining competition has left a group of local youngsters jumping for joy.
Six members of Lancaster and Morecambe College trampolining club finished high up in their individual classifications at a competition in Birkenhead last Saturday.
Coach Jo Smith said: "We started offering trampolining sessions to young people when the college opened its new sports and coaching centre in 2000.
"As other sports centres in the area just do recreational and not competitive trampolining, we decided to start the club here."
Jo, whose daughter was in the Scottish national team for six years, added: "The children have done really well.
Every one of them has the capabilities to be great jumpers.
"They all enjoyed themselves and we are all looking forward to the next competition in Wenbury on June 6."
In Birkenhead Zoe Riley came third in the under 18 grade four category, as did Joel Cavaliere in the grade five under 13s group and John Nightingal in the grade five under 11s group.
Stephanie Wood and Zoe Hill came seventh and ninth in the under 11s grade five group and Jordan Burrell came 12th in the grade five under 15s group.
The club meets twice weekly and Jo also runs recreational classes for schoolchildren on Wednesday afternoons from 4pm to 5pm and six to 12 week Saturday morning courses.
