A GOOD Samaritan was brutally beaten when he tried to help a woman at Prestwich Metrolink Station.
When he went to the aid of the lone female, who was being harassed by two men, the 39-year-old male had a bottle thrown at him before being pushed to the ground and punched and kicked about the head and body.
The victim sustained a broken nose and severe bruising in the attack and was treated for his injuries at North Manchester General Hospital.
Police are appealing for help following the incident which happened at the Metrolink car park in Rectory Lane last Saturday (April 20) at 11.48pm.
Both offenders were white and aged around 18, and police believe they may have left the tram station with the young woman.
Anyone who witnessed the assault, or saw the three people leaving the tram station, is asked to contact Whitefield CID on 856 8240 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
