POLICE are hunting two bogus workmen who conned a Holcombe Brook pensioner after she withdrew hundreds of pounds from the bank.
The men called at the 75-year-old woman's home in Bolton Road West and told her she needed repairs to the the roof.
She later went to the bank, withdrew the cash and gave it to the men.
But they later left the house, having done little or no work to the roof.
Police have now issued a warning to other vulnerable householders in the wake of Friday's (April 19) incident.
Officers stressed no-one should part with money upfront, should only deal with bona fide contractors and seek a second opinion on any work to be carried out.
One of the men was 5ft 5ins tall, of average build with short, tidy blond hair and aged around 30. The second was 5ft 7ins tall, slim and aged between 25-30.
They used a white van.
Anyone with information about the duo should ring Bury operational police unit on 856 8157.
