GARDENERS are urged to take part in a prize competition to bring colour to their neighbourhood.
The competition is for residents on the Huntley Fold estate in Bury, and organised by Willows Tenants' and Residents' Association (TRA).
Young and old alike can win prizes, although the TRA is confident that the whole area will benefit with the creation of many showcase gardens.
The event follows the success of Willows TRA in winning a borough-wide competition held earlier this year by Bury Housing Forum.
Councillor John Smith, housing spokesman, said: "They, along with other groups, put forward ideas on how they would like to transform their areas through involving local people."
Contestants in the adult section can win a first prize of £150 of B&Q vouchers, and a £75 voucher for second place.
Young gardeners of the year (under-16s) can win a mini hi-fi and a £25 CD voucher.
Entrants must live on the Huntley Fold estate, and only front gardens can qualify.
Residents should send entries, deadline May 3, to Willows TRA Garden Competition, c/o New Kershaw Centre, Deal Street, Bury, BL9 7PZ. Judging is on July 29 and 30.
