POLICE today warned residents to lock their doors after opportunist thieves carried out a spate of burglaries.
Three houses were burgled in the early hours of Thursday morning in the Dill Hall Lane area of Accrington after owners left their doors unlocked.
Detective Constable Jane Lawrenson, of Accrington police, described the offender as 'an opportunist'.
She said: "It is really important for people to keep their doors and windows locked."
A telephone was taken from a semi-detached home in Dill Hall Lane, £35 was taken from a mid terrace in Warwick Street and bottles of alcohol and keys were stolen from a mid-terrace in Elmfield Street.
