For the company, headed by retail magnate John Timpson, was one of the best to work for, according to a Sunday newspaper.
Mr Timpson (59), the company's visionary chairman and chief executive, transformed Timpson from a struggling footwear retailer in the 1980s to the profitable 325-strong chain of repair outlets, covering everything from key cutting to chain engraving, it is today.
The business emerged in sixth position in the newspaper's "100 best companies to work for" list. The privately-owned firm also topped the league in the chart of companies on the 100 Best list with the most trusting management; 96.7 per cent of Timpson employees believe their managers trust them to do a good job.
Mr Timpson said: "It is people like Steve Ainsworth that make this company successful.
"I have complete faith in Steve's skills and ability to do a great job for our Bury customers.
"Our business is all about making sure we look after the people who look after our customers and I'm extremely proud that commitment to our staff has been recognised."
