I AM chairperson for the Worsley House Action Group in Fleetwood. This is one of the homes earmarked for closure and I read with interest comments by County Coun David Whipp regarding the funds being released for essential maintenance work on the homes (Citizen, April 11).
I totally agree with his views and one wonders why half way through the consultancy and pre-May elections they suddenly pull this money out of the pot. Worsley House -- and I am sure they are one of many -- have had no major maintenance work done in approx 10 years.
However, I did hear that two new windows have been installed, wooden, single glazed. Is this the limit of their essential maintenance work? It will be interesting to see just what they are spending and where.
I would appreciate Mr Whipp's views on the proposed closures and I am sure the residents of Worsley House will join me in thanking him for showing his support publicly.
Mrs Patricia Gordon, Fleetwood (address supplied).
