I FEAR that correspondent Sue Archer (April 12) is rapidly taking on the mantle of submitting the week's most illogical rant.
This person, so critical of mothers with children who impede her while she shops, is obviously finding it extremely difficult to organise her hectic life. I would recommend the following:
Set the alarm clock for 6am on your day off and go to Asda at 7am. Those offensive mothers and kids will be conspicuous by their absence. Failing this, visit any convenient time other than Sunday 4.30pm to Monday 8.30am. That is only 152 hours shopping time out of a possible 168 in a week.
Stop writing letters to local newspapers. This wastes valuable time for shopping and other vital things, such as deliberately driving in the rush hour then complaining that everyone else's car is causing a jam.
Read the reasoned and logical replies to your letters. This may use up precious minutes, but the knowledge gained may prove invaluable.
Petition Asda and other stores to ban children during the times you must shop.
In years to come, your state pension will no doubt be partly paid by the very people you now castigate: children. Should you have the misfortune to need medical care, today's children will be the doctors and nurses of tomorrow.
Spare a few vital minutes to go the library, and look up books in the section marked "Managing your time effectively".
Get a new job. There is no such thing as stress. Either you need more people at your place of work, or you are simply in the wrong job. Get a life!
Incidentally, Sue Archer must be a lawyer, solicitor, financial adviser or estate agent. How would we ever survive without them?
PAUL TAYLOR,
Whitefield.
