AN argument over a drink spilled inside a Bury nightclub erupted in violence onto the streets outside, a court was told.
Security cameras showed Lee Thornton and Ricky Appleton fighting a group of men who had climbed into a taxi outside the Sol Viva nightclub. Both men yesterday escaped being sent to jail and were given community sentences and ordered to pay court costs. Thornton, aged 20, of Barnside Close, Bury, and Appleton, also aged 20, of Cornwall Drive, Bury, appeared at Bolton Crown Court to be sentenced for affray. Recorder Clement Goldstone QC sentenced Thornton to a 140-hour Community Punishment Order and ordered him to pay £100 court costs. Appleton was sentenced to a two-year Community Rehabilitation Order, ordered to pay £100 court costs and subjected to a 10pm to 7am curfew for the next four months.
