CARERS for people with learning difficulties will have the chance to get together and share experiences at an event tomorrow.
Lancashire County Council's Linking Communities at Meadowbank Resource Centre, Mount Pleasant Street, Burnley, will take place from 1.30pm to 4pm.
The event aims to bring communities together, involving people in planning services, sharing available resources and also participating in local events and activities.
A number of carers will share their experiences and information on benefits and voluntary services will be available. Lancashire Constabulary community safety and liaison officers and representatives from the Lancashire social services employment placement scheme and adult placement schemes will also attend to provide information about their work.
County Coun Chris Cheetham, cabinet member for social services, said: "I would encourage anyone who cares for someone with learning disability to take the time to visit the event at Meadowbank.
"This information day offers carers and relatives the opportunity to learn from each other and contribute to the way we organise and deliver our services. The county council is keen to work with the community to improve the way we deliver services as part of our modernisation agenda."
Refreshments will be provided, with limited parking available at the centre.
