PETER Martin is fighting to shake off an injury which could keep him out of the vital Benson and Hedges Cup game at Durham on Wednesday.
It is a tie which Lancashire must win after their opening group match at Derby was washed out yesterday. Only 27 balls were possible and it was abandoned with Lancashire 15-3.
Martin, who suffered a side strain in the championship win over Warwickshire last week, was left out of the side yesterday and had treatment, while his team mates dodged the showers. He said: "It shouldn't be a problem."
And captain Warren Hegg explained: "We didn't want to risk playing him in this game and then possibly have him out for a longer period."
Martin, having recovered from a stress fracture in his leg, has enjoyed a superb start to the season, with 13 wickets in the championship victories over Warwicks and Leicester.
And while he has always been a key member of their one day side, they need him to be 100 per cent fit for the top of the table division one game at the Oval next week.
