NELSON lost their final game of the NWCL Division Two season and, after harbouring thoughts of a top six finish, they look likely to finish in eighth place.
John Bailey did suffer a setback on Friday night when Rossendale United asked if they could have striker Carl Howarth - who is on Dale's books although he has been starring for the Blues recently - back for Saturday.
Bailey let his hitman go to help Dale's UniBond First Division play-off charge and watched his side suffer as a consequence.
Martin Sheldon opened the scoring for Stone on 65 minutes, Colin Fletcher made it two on 70 while Sheldon added a third on 80. Five minutes from time, Mark Maguire made it a flattering four.
