FORGET Kevin Costner. Ribble Valley schoolchildren are being offered a £1,200 prize for their own interpretations of 'Waterworld'.

Budding young artists from Ribble Valley primary schools are being invited to vie for the top prize set by Steve Punchard of the Aquatic Hire Company in Derby Street.

Up for grabs to the winner is a fully-stocked 4ft aquarium for their school complete with a six-month maintenance contract, worth £800 in total, and a fully-stocked 2ft aquarium for home, worth £400.

Steve said: "Aquariums are the latest celebrity fad and Pop Idol judge Pete Waterman is a known enthusiast.

"They create a calm and peaceful atmosphere in any environment, and are ideal for offices, hospitals, schools and homes."

He added: "They have maximum impact, with low maintenance, and can be hired on a monthly basis.

"Our trained technicians will regularly re-stock and service them so you don't even have to get your hands wet."

Steve believes in supporting the care of animals and the natural world among children to ensure environmental responsibility among future generations.

Youngsters up to the age of 11 are asked to produce a picture in any medium or size with the theme of 'Waterworld'.

The closing date for the competition is May 31, with all entries will be displayed at the store.Judges will include Steve and Clitheroe Mayor Coun Mary Robinson.
