SEASON ticket sales at Turf Moor smashed through the £2million barrier yesterday, more than £500,000 up on the same stage last season.

Clarets fans are reminded that today is the final opportunity for them to buy season tickets for the next campaign at discount prices, the ticket office shutting at 5pm.

As of tomorrow, May 1, the prices will go up but by then the club is confidently predicting that more than 10,000 season tickets will have been sol.

Ticket office manager Graham Raven said: "We are delighted with the take-up and it is great to have passed the £2million mark.

"At this stage last year we had taken about £1.5million.

"By the end of April last season we had sold 8,500 season tickets so we are very happy with the response from fans."

With the return to the normal prices tomorrow comes the cancelling of saved seats, with them going on general sale.

But in the week from May 13-17 there will be the opportunity for fans to swap seats and move to better ones.

The positive response from the fans in the light of the disappointment of missing out on the play-offs shows that they appreciate the entertainment that has been served up this season and their hope that the next campaign will have a happier ending.
