FORMER Accrington Stanley full-back Stan Lynn has sadly died at the age of 73.
The Bolton-born right-back began his career at Stanley, playing 47 times before moving to Villa for £10,000 in March 1950.
He became a Villa legend, playing more than 300 times, enjoying a Wembley triumph against Manchester United in 1957 and he helped Villa win the Second Division Championship in 1960.
Well-known for a powerful right-foot shot, Lynn scored 38-goals at Villa Park. A hat-trick against Sunderland in January 1958, gave him the honour of being the first full-back to achieve such a feat in a Division One game.
