CLITHEROE were outgunned by Salford for the second time in a week - but on this occasion there was no power cut to save them!
Last week an electricity failure caused the NWCL Division One match to be abandoned with the visitors leading 2-1, so it was a case of justice being seen to be done at Shawbridge last night.
But it took a goal of real quality from Rhodri Giggs - brother of Manchester United ace Ryan - to net Salford the points and keep them on course for a runners-up spot.
Clitheroe were in front five minutes before the break when a corner from Jason Jones was bundled home by Gary Rishton.
Had a shot from Andy Cowking gone in instead of bouncing back off the crossbar then it might have been a different story.
But Salford began to take control and when Kris Richens dropped a cross Keith Evans forced an equaliser.
Then it was left to winger Giggs to break clear before lifting a shot over Richens for the winner.
"It wasn't the best of games, with little in the way of goalmouth action, and although we did okay they just had a little too much quality for us on the night," was the honest summary of Clitheroe player-manager Lee Sculpher.
CLITHEROE...1 SALFORD...2
RAMSBOTTOM'S final game of the season at Newcastle Town was postponed last night.
