A DOTING father and football fan bought an autographed Manchester United football for his nine-year-old son at a charity auction.
The event was held by the Rossendale branch of the Manchester United Supporter's Club, which meets at the Royal Hotel in Waterfoot.
Blackburn's Senior Gateway Club will benefit from the proceeds of the night, and Cameron Brown, who will be nine on Sunday, is the lucky recipient of the prized autographed ball, bought by his dad Duncan.
Rossendale-born Duncan, who lives in Rochdale but is looking to move back to the Valley, said: "It was a bit of a spur of the moment thing with my son's birthday coming up.
"I have now sent the ball away to a trophy shop to be framed and mounted.
"I am just hoping it doesn't end up being used as a kick-about football!"
Joint Blackburn Senior Gateway Club leaders Tom Baron and Eddie Jackson are pictured with the signed football and other items which were offered for auction.
