THAI boxing ace Dave Mitchell from Bamber Bridge is celebrating after winning the British Light Weight Low Kick Championship.
Dave, 34, beat the previously unbeaten Sean Edwards in Bristol and was supported by members of his own club, Elite Thai/Kickboxing which he runs with his wife Dawn.
This title is the latest in a long list of awards. Dave was previously the super feather weight champion and came fourth for Great Britain in the world championships two years ago.
The Elite club, based in Leyland, is going from strength to strength and on Saturday is staging the world championship qualifiers at Leyland Leisure Centre, starting at 10am. The event will run throughout the day with the junior event, which is open to children aged 12 and above, in the morning, featuring the Elite Junior Championship and the senior fighters in the afternoon.
A fully licensed bar and refreshments are available and tickets are £10 for seniors and £6 for juniors.
Any club that wishes to take part are welcome. For details of this event or classes in Leyland contact Dave or Dawn on 01772 491068.
