IN the first Senior A match of the season at Padiham Pool, against Rosegrove and Chorley Marlins, Leyland Barracudas had a good start with strong team races in both the men's and women's Open Freestyle and some great individual efforts.
After 12 races, Chorley was in third, Barracudas second and Rosegrove leading.
A resounding victory for Barracudas in the boys 12/under Freestyle with John Halliwell,Graham Donald, Oliver Raimond and Ryan Bennett gave the team a great start in the second section.
John Halliwell had a clear win in the 12/under backstroke and Catherine Van Russell took first place after a tremendous start in the 14/under Freestyle.
Jack Johnson produced a brilliant swim in the 12/under Breaststroke and a win for Carole Wilcox in the Open Breaststroke kept the pressure on Rosegrove.
After several leader changes and level pegging with Rosegrove, Barracudas had to win the final cannon to draw. Alex Unkles, Jack Johnson, Catherine Van Russell, Dan King, Rachel Horrocks and Sam Kenyon pulled out all the stops to take victory.
The final result saw Chorley come third with Rosegrove and Barracudas in joint first place.
