Leigh Soccer League: THE Davenport Cup semi-final clash between the top side of recent seasons, Higher Folds, and the new boys on the block, Kersal Vale, proved to be an absolute cracker with the Salford outfit squeezing through 5-3 in extra time.
George Rowbotham gave Vale a second minute lead but two goals in the 41st minute from Jason Caldwell and Adrian Darwen put Folds in front, only for the home side to level through Rowbotham with virtually the last kick of the 90 minutes.
Extra time saw Jody Holt briefly restore the Leigh side's advantage but John Smith with his 44th of the season and two from Steve White put Kersal through to face Moonraker at Atherton Town's ground on Saturday morning with a 10.30am kick off.
Moonraker warmed up for that game with Steve Anderton scoring a hat-trick in a 4-1 victory at Royal Oak to finish runners up in Division One. Rope & Anchor and Fir Tree Rangers drew 3-3.
