WHITEFIELD firefighters will well and truly put their hosereels to good use later this month, not just to extinguish blazes.
For the officers are holding a car wash day at their Bury New Road station to raise funds for their New York colleagues.
Last Saturday (April 27), the Whitefield men collected £532 after selling raffle tickets at Asda, Pilsworth.
Proceeds from the raffle, which carries a first prize of a Hyundai Amica car, will go to the New York Firefighters Dependants Fund.
And more cash will be raised when the Whitefield crew stage their car washing fund raiser on Saturday, May 25 between 10 and 4pm.
Those wishing to have their vehicles cleaned on the day should bring them to the fire station.
Officers throughout Greater Manchester County Fire Service are involved in the New York fund raising.
