STUDENTS on a Skills for Life course at Bury College have been doing their bit for the Shakers.
A coffee morning held recently at the Woodbury Centre raised £35 for the troubled club.
The six fund-raisers are all adult learners and the course aims to help students to develop a greater independence.
As part of their programme, the students study "rights and responsibilities" and form a committee to plan and organise fund-raising events. The students had heard all about the difficulties faced by Bury FC and chose to raise funds for the club.
They organised, publicised and managed the event with the support of their tutor Janet Booth.
She said: "The students have all worked really hard to organise this event. They are all concerned about the plight of their local football club and are delighted to be able to do their part to help."
