DOG fouling in Rosegrove is on the increase and people who ignore the law can receive a fixed penalty of £50.
In the last 12 months the council has issued almost 50 notices to people who failed to clean up after their pet.
Anyone who sees evidence of dog fouling in Rosegrove is asked to contact the dog warden on 01282 425011.
BURNLEY police constable Linda Haywood has been seconded on a short-term basis to address the nuisance issues in Rosegrove and Lowerhouse and to provide a closer liaison between the police, public and residents groups.
Incidents in Rosegrove and Lowerhouse in the past week include three house burglaries, criminal damage, five thefts, and two reports of juvenile nuisance. More than 80 police officers were deployed.

THE Rosegrove Carnival will be staged on Sunday from noon at Sycamore Avenue playing fields. There will be fairground rides, five-a-side football, tug-of-war, dancers and local group Depth.
FORMER master tailor George Kelly died last, aged 78. George was one of the Rosegrove characters and a popular man. He will be greatly missed by those fortunate enough to have known him. His funeral was well-attended by family and friends.
THE Birds Chippy mixed doubles bowling competition held last Sunday was won by Chez Viola and Sandra Roberts who scooped £100. Runners-up were Mr and Mrs B Smith who won £50. The losing semi-finalists who won £25 were Mr and Mrs D Peet and Mr and Mrs Holmes.
RESIDENTS who see refuse sacks dumped in the street or in backyards are asked to call 01282 425011 and it will be removed. Action will be taken if the culprits can be identified.
VOLUNTEERS have decorated the window of Rosegrove Action Group's shop in Lowerhouse Lane for the Queen's Jubilee.
Two mannekins provided by Horner's of Accrington Road, Burnley, have been dressed as bride and groom ahead of the celebrations on June 2.
The display, sponsored by the Londis mini market, will remain in the window until the official celebrations. The bride's dress was donated by Mrs Sharron Shevington.
