THE Clarets have revealed that they will be taking on Premier League opposition in the build up to next season.
Old pals Stan Ternent and Sam Allardyce will go head to head on July 31 when Turf Moor hosts its first pre-season friendly.
The Trotters defied the odds and the critics by comfortably retaining their Premier League status a couple of games before the end of the season, despite some anxious moments.
Wanderers played a couple of behind closed doors friendlies against the Clarets this season but the fans will be able to see the two clash in a match that will kick-off at 7.45pm.
Both sides can expect to feature some new faces as the two managers are certain to be trying to wheel and deal throughout the summer.
Allardyce certainly did that to good affect this season and he has put together a team of experienced players from the Nationwide League and the international scene with French stars Yourri Djorkaeff and Bruno N'Gotty and German striker Freddie Bobic, among the most recent recruits.
Ternent will be hoping his players will be getting towards full fitness as the new season will be fast approaching and Burnley will have already played games prior to the Bolton game, with the team taking part in the annual Isle Of Man Steam Packet International Festival earlier in July.
