HIGH-FLYING non league soccer outfit Hindley Town will have access to Premier League quality facilities next season.
The club has received a £10,000 Football Stadia Improvement Fund grant to provide modern changing rooms at Hindley's Kildare Street ground.
Local MP and Chairman of Supporters Direct, Andy Burnham, was joined by Councillors Stuart Shaw and Jack Topping to present Hindley Chairman Keith Dootson with a £10,000 cheque on behalf of the FSIF before Town's home game against local rivals Ashworth.
Over £35m has already been invested by the Football Stadia Improvement Fund since its launch in July 2000, funding lower league ground improvements throughout the professional and amateur game, creating a safe and modern environment for fans and players to enjoy the game.
Leigh MP, Andy Burnham, welcomed this latest football grant for the North West: "Football facilities in this area badly need new investment so it's great to see this money coming to Hindley. It shows that both the Football Stadia Improvement Fund and Football Foundation are getting funding right down to the game's real grassroots."
Cllr Stuart Shaw said: "Our local sports clubs do a great job in the community and it's about time that we benefited from funding like this to help them improve their facilities. We thank the FSIF."
