COLNE indie boys The Milltown Brothers have returned to the studio with their original line-up for the first time in over a decade.
Taking a back to basics approach, the group of Matthew and Simon Nelson, Barney Williams, James Fraser and Nian Brindle, have recorded two new tracks with John Pennington -- who worked on their early material -- at his Manchester studio.
Once again courting record label interest for their bright, jangly pop songs, the lads are also scheduled to record three more tracks in London, later this month.
Having shot to fame in the early Nineties with a string of hit singles, the five piece still have a strong following and with their website now attracting over 25 000 visitors per year, the time seemed right to give it another go.
Lead singer Matthew Nelson revealed the come back was direct result of the showcase of local talent, held at Burnley's Mechanics in February.
Matthew said: "It'd been such a long time since we'd all been together and it was just a real buzz again. The original line-up works so well it all seems very fresh and very much like the early days. We're just going to enjoy it and see where it takes us."
Matthew and Simon's older brother Mark has also joined the group's songwriting team.
Both the new songs are now available for fans to hear and download from their website www.milltownbrothers.com.
