FOLLOWING the death of the Queen Mother, books of condolences signed by the people of Burnley and Padiham have been sent to the Queen's Assistant Private Secretary.
Many people in the area have entered their personal messages of sympathy to the Royal Family on the death of the Queen Mother.
The Mayor of Burnley Jack Alston has forwarded the books with the a message of sympathy on behalf of the people of the Borough of Burnley.
It read: "It was with deep sorrow that we learnt of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother.
"I write on behalf of the townspeople, members and officers of the Burnley Borough Council to offer our most sincere sympathy to Her Majesty the Queen and the Royal Family.
"The Queen Mother was truly a wonderful example to us all throughout the ever changing years and duties of her very long life was held in the highest reverence and admiration.
"She has given us a lifetime of happy memories and we will all miss this valued and much loved lady.
"I enclose two books bearing the townspeople's personal messages of condolence, each one lovingly and loyally expressed.
"May I, on behalf of the Borough of Burnley, convey to Her Majesty and the Royal Family our deepest condolences on their personal loss of this wonderful lady."
