TWO new community beat bobbies are making their mark in the neighbourhood after carrying out a number of raids in a bid to crack down on drug related crime.

PC Brian Pepper and PC Mark Hyde carried out their first warrant in Barnoldswick yesterday at an address in the Avon Drive area with assistance from Pennine Division's Support Unit and officers from Colne Police Station.

A 33-year-old female was arrested at the property and a quantity of what police believe to be heroin seized, along with other drug related paraphernalia.

She was subsequently released on police bail pending forensic examination of the substances recovered.

Sergeant Chris Saville, from Barnoldswick Police Station, said: "Our team of local community beat managers are determined to tackle the issues raised by residents on their beat and drug-related crime is one of the main concerns.

"The supply and use of drugs, and the crime this attracts, will not be tolerated in Barnoldswick and where we have sufficient evidence, we will take action -- as indeed we did yesterday."

He added: "This might be the first warrant executed by our new community beat officers, but it will not be the last. Working in partnership with local residents we are determined to drive down drug related crime."

Anyone with any information about local offenders should contact the police or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
