A CONTROVERSIAL housing plan for land off Rising Bridge Road in Haslingden was withdrawn before planners got to decide its fate.
The application, for 12 houses, was before members of the development control committee and had been recommended for refusal.
The land is green belt and has been subject to a further two planning applications which were also turned down.
A petition with 68 signatures was sent in opposition to the plans, but the landowner Leo Wrigley also submitted support for the application from local estate agents and builders.
But before the plans could be discussed Labour leader Coun Graham Pearson said the owner withdrew them.
