WHY on earth are the powers-that-be thinking of closing St Mark's School in Bury? It should be left as it is, a good building which can, and will, benefit lots of children.
St Mark's was the first school I went to when I was five, and every child was very happy there.
As for "Grateful Parent" (Your Letters, May 3) saying that children at St Mark's are breathing in carbon monoxide from being based next to a busy main road, well all that sounds a little stupid to me. It didn't do me any harm and I am now 71.
St John's is a healthy school but so is St Mark's, so leave it alone!
J. LEIGH (Mrs),
Rochdale Old Road, Bury.
