FIRSTLY congratulations must go out to John Coleman and Accrington Stanley.

A treble in any league is a very difficult feat and John has led Stanley to a unique feat.

And I personally think he will go one better next season and achieve Conference status with Stanley and it could not happen to a nicer lad.

Next now the English season has sorted itself out and all the ups and downs are sorted out, all football fans are looking forward to three week's time and England's assault on the World Cup.

Everybody is putting forward opinions on the England squad, but when I look at it the first thing that hits me is it has no hard core or spine. Previous England teams have always had a spine of leaders and scrappers.

We've always had rock solid keepers -- Firstly with Gordon Banks, Ray Clemence, Peter Shilton, David Seaman. Seaman is still there and still our best keeper -- but he is over the hill. Next we have always had good, strong centre halfs. Bobby Moore, Terry Butcher, Tony Adams, Dave Watson, now the only tough hard centre half there is Martin Keown.

In midfield we've always had tough ball winners, Bryan Robson, David Batty, Peter Reid, Nobby Stiles and Paul Inc.

This squad looks lacking in that department.

Up front we've always had good strong goalscoring centre forwards -- Geoff Hurst, Kevin Keegan, Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer. We have only one decent striker -- Michael Owen and he is injury prone.

This England squad looks more like a foreign squad eg European which is not surprising with Mr Eriksson in charge.

Lastly I am very disappointed Matt Jansen is not in because he is a far better all round player and in top form than Sheringham is now and it's a pity Eriksson cannot see that.

I hope England do well, but I have my reservations.
