IT took Paul Parkinson just seven minutes to turn this cup final and tame the Lions of Stanhill.

For the 'super sub' climbed up off the bench to set up Warren Baker's equaliser then charge down a clearance to put Wilpshire in the lead.

Up until Parkinson's timely appearance, it did seem that the cup was destined for Division One side Stanhill.

Because for all Wilpshire's pretty aproach play -- centred around the excellent Ian Simpson -- it was Stanhill's hit and hope tactic that gave them the lead.

After a goalless first half, Gary Hargreaves swung in a free kick on 52 minutes that bobbled in the box and fell kindly for Darren Livesey to volley home from close range.

Wilpshire, recently crowned Division Two champions, dominated proceedings in the first half and the lively Baker forced Dean Harwood -- in for the injured Dan Bury -- to tip the ball over the bar after racing on to Simpson's raking pass.

Liam Lishman then hit a post when his deep cross was misjudged by Harwood but the ball bounced out to safety.

After the break, Hargreaves had an excellent chance to open the scoring for Stanhill after beating the offside trap but he shot wide with just the keeper to beat.

However, Stanhill did open the scoring soon after when Livesey smashed home from close range -- much to the delight of the Lions vocal supporters behind the goal.

Baker spurned a great chance to grab an equaliser but he completely missed the ball after a fine run and cross by the impressive Martin Seedall.

There were signs of desperation in Wilpshire's play as Stanhill's defence stood firm. And when Lee Burgess spooned a shot over the bar from six yards it seemed like it wasn't to be.

But enter Paul Parkinson.

With just 13 minutes to go, the substitute whipped in a deep cross for Baker to rise at the far post to head home.

It sparked a three goal burst in five minutes for Wilpshire to win the cup.

For two minutes later Parky capitalised on hesitancy in the Stanhill defence to charge down Harwood's clearance which rebounded in to the net.

Now it was Wilpshire's turn to celebrate as the 'super sub' was mobbed by his team-mates.

While Wilpshire's first two goals were hardly classics the third summed up their free flowing perfectly. After breaking up a Stanhill attack on the left, Simpson and Paul Haythorntwaite exchanged passes to release Baker close to the touchline and his delightful flick set Seedall away who homed in on goal and cooly fired the ball past Harwood.

The perfect way to clinch a league and cup double.
