ROVERS are currently mulling over a move for exciting young Frenchman Abdoulay Konko.
The 18-year-old youngster spent a couple of days on trial at Brockhall last week with a view to a move in the summer.
But Souness has stressed the player is one for the future rather than someone who could slot straight into his first team plans next season.
"He's an 18-year-old French lad who has impressed us during his time here," said Souness.
"At the minute, the situation is he's contracted to Genoa but there's some dispute over that because he hasn't been paid for several months and as I understand it they have agreements in Italy and Portugal where you become a free agent if you don't get paid for three months.
"So he's a possibility but he's only a boy and he wouldn't be ready to slot straight into the first team."
