POLICE found a driver slumped over the steering wheel when they came across a car at traffic lights, a court was told.
Burnley magistrates heard how Mohammed Yabib, 26, of Larch Street, Nelson, was unable to speak or stand after he was taken from the vehicle.
Habib, who was given community punishment in September 2001 after being convicted of possessing ecstasy and cocaine, appeared before Burnley Magistrates after the community service officer applied to have the order revoked.
The bench said they would not revoke the order and would allow it to continue so the defendant could continue the work.
The court was told how the order was imposed after the defendant was found slumped in a car with the engine running. A police officer removed the ignition key and when he tried to wake Habib, the car rolled backwards.
The officer had to apply the handbrake but it did not work.
The defendant was unable to speak or stand and was taken to Burnley Police Station.
Officers found 25 ecstasy tablets and 2644 milligrams of cocaine on the defendant.
