A SERIES of open days will be held in Pendle next week to mark National Sheltered Housing Week. These will be:
2pm to 4pm, on Tuesday, May 21, at Valley Gardens in Earby
10am to noon, on Wednesday, May 22, at Hollins Court in Barnoldswick
2pm to 4pm, on Wednesday, May 22, at Pendle Court in Barnoldswick
2pm to 4pm, on Thursday, May 23, at O'Hagan Court in Brierfield
Visitors will be able to chat to staff and residents and have a look round.
Members of the council's Emergency Careline Unit, which provides a 24-hour a day, 365 days a year service, will be on hand to explain how they can provide peace of mind, confidence, security and independence to those living in sheltered housing.
Each of the four schemes operated by Pendle Council now has a computer for residents to use and it is planned to link these to the Internet in the near future.
Jane Maloney, housing management officer for the council, said: "The four sheltered housing schemes offer a secure, quality home, while promoting independent living, with the bonus of shared communal facilities.
"We hope people will take this opportunity to visit us and see for themselves what benefits can be gained from living in sheltered housing. It will be easier for them to make an informed decision in the future whether sheltered housing is for them."
