A SPORTS drink firm from East Lancashire will be the toast of the nation if Sven and the boys bring home the World Cup.

Science in Sport, based at Brockhall Village, has been supplying the sporting elite with energy-boosting products and nutritional supplements for several years.

But it is the company's latest role providing over 2,000 litres of energy and recovery drinks to Sven Goran Eriksson's boys that has left company bosses delighted.

Tim Lawson, sports scientist and boss, said: "We are really excited to be able to help the players in this way and have already sent out batches of our energy and recovery drinks to Dubai ready for the squad's arrival and to the different venues in Japan and South Korea where they will be playing their matches."

He added: "We also supplied the team for its qualifier with Greece and were overjoyed when we saw our products advertised on television. It was a big buzz for us."

Fellow company boss Peter Slater added: "We sent out our products early so it could reach all the different venues in time.

"The team will mainly be using our Go! carbohydrate drinks as Sven is very concerned about the players getting de-hydrated during the tournament. It gives out very high levels of energy.

"He has appointed a Swedish health guru to oversee that side of things."

The first batch was sent out from Brockhall Village last Friday.

Peter said: "We have a good relationship with the coaches and training staff and we recently rushed some stuff over to the team for their friendly with Paraguay."

The company has also been supplying several Premiership teams, including Blackburn Rovers, Arsenal, Liverpool and Leeds with its products for some time, as well as the England U21 squad.
