MUSIC and dance will raise the roof at King George's Hall in Blackburn with the first-ever UK tour by the Ukrainian National Opera.

More than 100 artists will perform an interpretation of Rossini's comic masterpiece 'The Barber of Seville,' on June 4.

New stars on the tour include Larysa Zuenko playing Violetta and the conducting batons of the company's director Vasyl Vasylenko and director of music Yarema Skibinskiy.

Petru Racovita, who has previously performed in Blackburn with the Chisinau National Opera, will be making a debut as Figaro.

This is the 20th opera tour for organiser Ellen Kent, who said: "It is amazing that such an important company as the Ukrainian National Opera of Odessa has never toured the UK before and we are delighted to be bringing the tour to King George's Hall for the first time."

Tickets are available for the opera on 01254 582 582.
