RECITING poetry once a week is enough to keep the body clock ticking until you are 100 according to great grandma Ada Cummings.
Ada, a former weaver at Blacko Mill, celebrated her lanmark birthday with her friends, family and the Mayor of Burnley, Coun Jack Alston.
She has been reciting poetry since as long as she can remember and said it is a sure way to keep the mind healthy.
She now lives at Stella Maris residential home in Casterton Avenue, Burnley but was born and brought up in Gisburn Road, Blacko, before moving to Elizabeth Street in Nelson.
Carer Debbie Holder said Ada has been a joy to care for.
She said: "She has a good sense of humour and has enjoyed her life to the full even though she has worked hard most of her life."
She now has four grandchildren who have all had children.
